Swiss government synchronizes energy efficiency requirements for electric motors with the EU

New electrical appliances should consume less electric energy. The Swiss government adopted amendments to the Swiss energy efficiency ordinance regarding the energy efficiency requirements for specific products, including electric motors.

The revision of the energy efficiency ordinance aims to incorporate the more stringent energy efficiency requirements of the European Union (EU) into Swiss law. The amendments for electric motors will come into force on 1 July 2021 and will be synchronized with Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/1781.
